Hello, I'm Clarissa !

I’m a Midwest born girl, now residing in south east Georgia. I’m a wife, mom, and dog mom! Most days I am networking with other birth professionals or supporting pregnant and postpartum families. In my spare time I’m on dreamy road trips and staycations with my husband. When I’m not rocking babies, or balancing pediatric appointments, or sowing seeds into the children I foster; you can find me networking with other foster parents. I became a mom at the age of 17! A teen mom of a baby boy! I’m now a mom of two children; and a grandmother, I have over two decades of experience as a birthworker. I’m a Foster Mom, Doula Mentor, Perinatal Educator, Certified Holistic Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, Pregnancy & Infant loss Advocate + Fertility Advocate. My training began my journey into birth work over two decades ago, I have experience working Mother/Baby, Antepartum, LDRP, GYN, and Labor/Delivery Units providing support for pregnancy & infant loss, miscarriage, and fetal demise.

My Story

Adlena’s Embrace was founded to help improve maternal and infant mortality rates through serving families in marginalized communities. My niche is postpartum I have worked in Mother/Baby since 1996. I’m originally from Kansas City, Missouri my experience began in the birth world as a teen mom, I attended a school specifically for all pregnant young girls and teens. Shortly after graduating from high school I immediately immersed myself into birth work.

My birth work experience started in Mother/Baby postpartum, Labor/Delivery, and Antepartum. Furthermore, working with pregnant, and postpartum families that experience pregnancy & infant loss. I have worked as a Doula with families of rainbow babies (pregnancy after miscarriage). In this role, I serve families through pre-conception, pregnancy, and postpartum. Additionally, I am a Doula mentor where I engage and train future doulas. My passions include spending my time giving back to the community through diaper drives and other volunteer work centered around maternal and female health support.
